Synthetic Hubble (Duo NB) OSC - Dragons of Aria
I have been experimenting with a new Duo NB filter - the Antlia Golden Dual band. The acquisition & processing is all done in AP8 and the image from an ASI294MC and Askar FRA400 from an inner city site (bortle 8 and led street lights close at hand). I realize this setup will only work for emission t...

Automation of meridian flip
Hi all, I am looking for a way to automate imaging sessions when the target crosses the meridian. What I need to happen is the sequence/script detects the flip starting, stops the guider, waits for the slew to complete, takes a test shot, plate solves, re-centers the target, restarts guiding, waits ...

Reject subs with bright backgrounds.
I live in an inner city with very bright skies (Bortle 8) and just for added challenge with bright street lights close to my home. I can image though - using either a CLS-CCD or Duo NB filter with some quite pleasing results using a ZWO ASI294MC Pro camera. Recently I have been experimenting with sh...

Re: Using "Multiscale high pass" on deep sky images
bumping this thread as it is very, very useful. If there is a way to create a mask and use the histogram stretch ONLY on the mask section that would enhance this ability even more. For example, I want to select a galaxy, invert the mask selection and change the rest of the image leaving the galaxy ...

Re: Guiding problems
I did some further testing. I have now got the system to work, I can do plate solves, centres and calibrate and run full frame guiding. I think (and I will need to do another test to confirm this) that the issue I had was using the ASCOM driver directly. My test yesterday was using the ASCOM Hub wit...

Re: Guiding problems
Hi, thanks for the reply - in fact guide is 0.5x siderial. The mount (iOptron CEM40EC) is driven via ascom not the camera relays...I am not sure if this is relevant but I have noticed that in Telescope panel the MOVE buttons do not work - I have to check the emulate with GOTO option to get the mount...

Re: Duo NB filter - Eta Carina
Sure - This is with an Askar FRA 400, an ASI ZWO 294 MC and an STC Dou filter. The mount is an iOptron CEM40EC. The image is 20x4min subs captured and processed with AA7 using darks and flats....processing is white balance, DDP, then histogram stretch followed by light application of star compressio...

Re: Guiding problems
David, is this now working ok? I use the Lodestar also, mine is driving an iOptron CEM40EC via ASCOM, auto calibration fails - but guiding actaully works (with the default parameters) but I would like to calibrate properly to be able to use full frame guiding and also to cope with target changes (DE...
