Thanks. Finally got a clear night so I’ll try again. But is it necessary to do a calibration first? I’m using a Ioptron cem 70 and Alpy and thinking of exposure of less than 5 min. So will it track without calibration in slit mode? Thanks. John

Thanks , let me see if I have this correct. Once the star is in the window, I use the edge arrows to get the cross on the slit,then use the hand controls to move the star over the cross? Thanks j.

I am hoping to find a compressed file zip file that contains the basic gaia2 catalogue. I went to the esa but the amount of files
is confusing. Anyone know a simpler way of getting this catalogue installed? thanks john

Still learning the basics of AA. The profile tool is very handy for looking at spectra profiles but I’m looking for A more efficient way. Is there a way just to draw out a subregion and get a histogram on that? I tried drawing rectangles but It doesn’t change the xy coordinates in free profile. Ther...

The manual suggests finding “guiding a star on spectroscope slit” PDF. I haven’t found it. Does any one know where to download this?

Phd2 now has a tool for highlighting the slit for star placement in guiding. Astroart seems to work differently.
What would be the setup for slit spectroscopy guiding? How do I highlight the slit in darkness? Any help is appreciated. Thanks john

The plug in was the key. I assumed I already had it since my other imaging apps

I installed AA today,and am already having problems I read the pdf and installed the ascom plug in for my asi 294. The camera chooser still only shows simulator.
My cam is recognized by all my other apps and ascom is up to date. What should I do? Thanks john
