Australian Desert Fireball Network Panoramic image
Hello All, I've been involved with the Desert Fireball Network (DFN) run by Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia, and have just spent 10 days traveling around the deserts in the Far North of South Australia, servicing some of the existing DFN cameras. See http://fireballsinthesky.com.au/ fo...

Thanks Astroart!
Hello everyone. Used for years Astroart for my sessions automatic imaging the last session was last night: auto shooting with filters R, B, and IR with SII programming filter wheel. At five in the morning with script it has disabled the cooling of the CCD and the session ended. AA also use to proces...

New Observatory on the cheap
Just thought for those people who don't have lots of money and have to do all on a shoe-string budget like me, I would like to show you my observatory. I built the pier using solid retaining wall blocks weighing 60 lbs each, combining for over 400 lbs for the pier. For the observatory proper, I foun...

Re: How to plot a transit curve of an exoplanet transit
Hi John, the question of the corrected magnitude is more complex. Astroart can provide you an "instrumental magnitude" that you can correct with a "zero point" setting to calibrate it to a catalog magnitude, but it is still considered an instrumental magnitude because you should calibrate also for c...

Re: How to plot a transit curve of an exoplanet transit
Hi, Yes all understood. but the individual mag calculated normally dont seem to relate to the differential ensemble mags? my process uses the .txt ref star file to set the ref mags. All are within 0.02 O-C mag. when the text editor lists the ADUs They all match the individual star values done manual...

Re: How to plot a transit curve of an exoplanet transit
Hi John, if I have correctly understand your question, you should take a series of images of the same field with variable and ref stars, then use the batch photometry tool to collect ALL the images in the "Preprocessing-batch photometry" window and selecting "Align -> Star pattern". It is clear that...

Re: How to plot a transit curve of an exoplanet transit
Hi, I have tried to use the same process on a set of variables. The above process does not seem to use the reference stars to correct the mag of the variable in the plot. It seems to be plotting raw ADUs? I have calibrated mags for all my reference stars. Why does the plot not have corrected magnitu...
