Multiple simultaneous instances

Post by nbastro » 15 Oct 2022, 16:39

Hi Fabio,
I'm trying to run two instances of AstroArt 8 running different setups. I thought this was possible, but I keep getting an exception error (actually it repeats probably 100 times) and then one instance closes. Could be my computer, but wanted to check if I should be doing something else to run two instances.
Thanks!
Newell

Are you using a 64bit version of Windows?

Are you trying to run imaging hardware at the same time?

I just ran two simultaneous 64bit instances where each was running a very large preprocessing drizzle stack on an I7 computer with 32gigs of RAM and it ran fine.

I have a much more minimal computer which I use just to control the scopes. Running a 8GB ram i5. Maybe that's my problem? I also need to update my ASCOM drivers. Maybe that will help?
I keep this HP outside most of the time and operate it remotely through VNC. I wonder if the VNC could also be causing an interrupt problem.

Thanks for your thoughts, for now I'm just glad to have clear skies and capturing some nebula. I really do want to get back to photometry and use the other scope for "artistic" work.

I have two Beelink mini computers (Celeron 5095 CPU), each one running a different mount in my back yard observatory, and I control them both with a desktop computer via Chrome Remote Desktop. I think your issue might be related to USB bus conflicts as cameras typically demand priority access to the bus during downloads.

That makes sense.
I have a refurbished HP that stands up to the elements quite well, but I've been starting to look for an inexpensive second computer.
I'm moving in a month and still have not determined where the scopes will go.
I appreciate the suggestion.
