AA5 Service Pack 4
Hello everybody,
at the Astroart web site http://www.msb-astroart.com/ it's now available the fourth service pack for Astroart 5. As usual it contains both new features and bug fixes:
Version 5.0 SP4 - December 22, 2014
-----------------------------
* New feature. Split R/G/B in Preprocessing.
* New feature. Special version for Windows 64 bit.
* Improved. More memory for Preprocessing.
* Improved. More options in photometry plot.
* Bug fix. Repair row/column in macros.
* Bug fix. 32 bit TGA file format.
The Setup installs two versions, the usual one and "AstroartLAA64.exe". To use the latter, you will have to manually create a shortcut on the desktop. The LAA64 version is useful for Preprocessing with Sigma/Median of very big DSLR images (20 megapixels and more) but it may not work with some very old CCD drivers (we are verifying all them).
Actually, there were no critical bugs in Astroart 5 SP3 to be corrected, so if you are satisfied with it there is no hurry to upgrade to SP4.

Re: AA5 Service Pack 4
Hi,
perhaps I'm missing something?
When trying to update Astroart Version 5.0 SP3 to Version 5.0 SP4 I get the error message
This version of Astroart cannot be updated by the Service Pack
So, why not?
BTW I noticed, that one cannot download predecessor service packages (SP3, SP2, SP1) from the Download site to repair a corrupted installation.
Please help!
Rolf

Hi,
are you sure about your version? Please check in "About Astroart", title of the window.
SP4 contains all other SPs and is able to update any full Setup of Astroart. To repair a corrupted installation install first the full Setup (70 Mb, not the demo setup) then the Service Pack.
The previous release (Service Pack 3) is still available at:
http://www.msbsoftware.it/AA5ServicePack3.zip
If it still does not work please contact us by email.
Clear skies,
Fabio.

Re: AA5 Service Pack 4
Hi Fabio,
yes I'm sure about the version, I did check it before. Thank you for your reply.
I've now reinstalled the whole work from the bottom without problems.
I don't know what really was the cause, the program was running fine all the way before.
This was on my notebook for AP work in the field, running Windows 7 32 bit. Updating AA5
on my other machine running Windows 7 64 bit went without any problem anyway, so I had been rather confused.
Thanks and wish you a happy new year,
Rolf

Re: AA5 Service Pack 4
I get some errors with this newest SP so downgraded to SP3.
For example when I do Gradient remove I get to 99% and then receive external exception C00002B4.
Also stacking DSLR raw images with the new AstroartLAA64.exe received error.
And when I tried to save stacked DSLR image over image with same name the dialog window was so small it was impossible to make it work.

Hi,
the LAA64 version does not work on al PCs / OS. If this happens, just use the common version ( Astroart.exe )

Re: AA5 Service Pack 4
I'm getting the same error with both executables, when doing more or less any processing and particularly when using adaptive gradient removal. It's such a frequent error that I can't get through my normal workflow to process images. Is there any information I can give you which would be helpful in tracking the error source? There's noting relevent in my event logs, I'm running Windows 7 x64 with SP2, the Canon camera plug-in and that's about it.

Re: AA5 Service Pack 4
Since you use the Canon camera plugin, that could be the cause. It could be solved upgrading the Open RAW plugin:

Does this solve?

Hello Fabio,
Just FYI, the new SP4 release is perfect on seven 64 bits SP1 now and a D610 Nikon DSLR. No memory error detected during the alignment process.
Best regards,

Re: AA5 Service Pack 4
I had the same issue but it didn't fix it, manage to fix it by downloading and installing Canon™ DSLR cameras - Version 2.70.
No more errors now.
Thanks
