Canon *.cr3 raws
Hello,
I recently bought a Canon EOS RP which I will have astro modded. Currently AstroArt does not support it's raw files. Can you give a timeframe when the "*.cr3" raws will be supported?
Thanks, Stefan

Re: Canon *.cr3 raws
I'd like to add that converting files to Adobe DNG does not solve my problem as my main goal is to use AstroArt (7) to capture images with the EOS RP via an USB connection, which currently only works for JPG and not for RAW.

Hello, I think that it will be presented in 3-4 months. If you like to receive a prerelease just write me by email or PM.
Greetings, Fabio.

Hello Fabio,
sorry for not giving any feedback on the new Canon plugin. It works great, I have a stable connection and can use the EOS RP just like a "real" CCD camera.
The best thing is that even the wifi connection works reliably. I connect the camera to the official Canon software on my laptop, then I close the Canon software and start AstroArt. AstroArt will show the EOS RP after I connect to the Canon plugin and it works just as an USB connection (with maybe slightly slower download times).
Here are some pictures I have taken on La Palma in January with the EOS RP(a), for all images the EOS RP was controlled by AstroArt via wireless connection:

https://forum.astronomie.de/threads/eos ... 33.283828/
https://forum.astronomie.de/threads/ic4 ... -a.283925/
There are two things that would be great to have:
1. Live view for focusing (probably difficult as this is not a feature of CCD cameras)
2. Support for *.cr3 files. So far AstroArt saves all the images as FITS files, which are at least twice as big as *.cr3 files. To save disk space it would be great if AstroArt could save *.cr3 files and of course also be able to read *.cr3 files. And even if I convert *.cr3 files to Adobe *.dng (which AstroArt can read) I can't mix the *.dng files with FITS files as the pixel numbers in each direction are different.
I sometimes would like to save calibration frames directly to SD card without AstroArt to save download time.
Thanks a lot for making this work so fast,
Stefan
