Focusing with a DSLR?

I have read the help content and searched the internet, but I do not understand how the focusing aid in AstroArt6 is working.

Can I use this feature with my Canon 1000D DSLR?

If so, are there any guides or perhape demovideos?

Is there a "live view" function in AstroArt, getting live view feed from a Canon DSLR?

... found and downloaded Camera Control 6.01, that comes with an instruction and seems to work with my Canon.
