Guiding - Hot pixels option
Guiding - Hot pixels option
Hello
i'm using AA8 for spectroscopy. My guiding cam is a Loodstar which has many hot pixels. During autoguiding process, box hot pixels option on the guide camera section is checked but many hot pix remain in the subframe. How does it work and is it possible to change the threshold detection ?
Thanks
Emmanuel

Re: Guiding - Hot pixels option
Hello,
the amount of the filter cannot be changed, however if you are guiding in "Slit Mode" for spectroscopy, everything around the star is ignored, so the option HotPixels will not make any difference. Actually I would disable it, to be sure that the star is not manually placed above a real hot pixel.
Instead, for the "normal mode" autoguide, there is a second check: even if some hot pixels are still present in the subframe, they are ignored.
P.S. The hotpixel option can be turned ON/OFF in real-time to see the difference.
Greetings, Fabio.

Re: Guiding - Hot pixels option
I use slit mode to explore very faint object like possible Planetary Nebulae. When I move the cross hair to the guide star, autoguiding starts sometimes unintentionally when the cross hair pass closer a hot pix. To avoid that, I have to desable Ra and Dec motion until cross hair is on guide star and then enable again Ra and Dec mvt.
Re: Guiding - Hot pixels option
OK, so a solution could be a single click command to bring the crosshair to the slit position, or maybe a single click to disable/enable all guiding pulses at once. Actually both solutions can be added easily.
Re: Guiding - Hot pixels option
The second option looks more interesting, with no motion by default ?
Thanks Fabio

Re: Guiding - Hot pixels option
OK, it will be added to AA8 SP2, available next weekend.

Hello,
Did this option make it into SP2 and if so how is it selected?
Regards,
Patrick.

Re: Guiding - Hot pixels option
Hello Patrick,
1) Slit mode now stars with RA,DE+,DE- pulses disabled.
2) It's possible to enable all them at once clicking the "Enable" label.
