Making a Defect Map

Post by Forum_2014 »

I want to use a defect map in my Preprocessing but am confused on how to do it properly.

Do I just take an appropriate Dark Frame and apply Minimum Clip of 1000-2000. Is this then my Defect Map??

If I open a Dark Frame and click on Defect Map, it says it need 2 images, so I open a second dark frame. If I then highlight one of the dark frames and click Defect Map, an action takes place. Is this the action to eliminate the brightest 0.5% of pixels?? If this is true I now have a second defect map.....which one should I use??

I would appreciate any clarification.
Thanks

The defect map is just a black image (background = 0) with some pixels visible (their value is not important).
It can be created in several ways, even using the brush tool, in AA or any other graphic program.
The fastest way is to use the command Clip Minimum (example: 1000 to zero).
The "Defect map" command in Filters menu applies the map, it does not create it.
Clear skies,
Fabio.
