comet processing : how to remove stars and not comet nucleus?

Hi,
I have a question about the use of "Filter/Stars/Remove stars" for comet image processing.
I would like to remove stars from a set of images, in order to keep only the tail and coma of the comet.
The problem I have, is that the nucleus of the comet is identified as a star by the "star find". So it is removed in the process.
Is there a way, or could it be a way in the future, to be able to use a "mask" to restrict the filter Stars/Remove stars to areas outside the "mask" ?
The "mask" would define an area (probably circular or better elliptic) around the coma. Its position X, Y could remain the same for the whole set of images (since there are already registered on the stars). And the "Stars/Remove stars" filter would apply only outside the region defined by the "mask".
If there is a way to do something like this in AstroArt, I would be interested to know how to do it.
Thanks !
Christian
