Binning CMOS ASI2900MC

Post by WD5IKX » 03 Apr 2022, 17:17

When I select 2x2 binning is AA8 doing "software binning" for CMOS cameras? I noticed a check box for "Hardware binning" in the ASCOM driver.

I am about to go out to my dark site to image some galaxies and I don't want to waste "sky time" trying to figure this out.

Thanks in advance.

John if you want to select software binning use the camera control panel and click on the wrench icon. You can select software binning from the image tab.
Clear skies for your outing.

Use hardware binning in preference to software binning but the full frame autoguide interface will allow you to use an additional 2x2 software binning in addition to hardware binning and in my experience this really boosts sensitivity, which may be critical if you're using an OAG.
