Can't open image stacked with Pix Insight

Post by WD5IKX » 17 Jul 2022, 20:23

I just tried to open an image from a friend that was stacked and saved with Pix Insight. This is how it looks and I opened the Fits header.
Has anyone encountered this before?

IIRC, PI is not conforming to the FITS standards. Also they use fractional values for pixel intensity when saving the image rather than values that correspond to the camera's recorded values. I have chided them for doing this. IIRC, PI can save it's output to make it compatible with FITS standards, but most PI users are unaware of this.

The dynamic range of that FITS is floating point 0.0 - 1.0, if you need to recover the ADUs you could multiply the image it by 65536.
Was this the problem ? If instead the problem was to change the visualization, then try: CTRL + Wheel rotate for finer control (CTRL + SHIFT + Wheel for the black level).
