GAIA2 Catalogue

Post by Patrick » 02 Jul 2022, 02:06

Hello,
Re Astroart 8 SP1. I use the GAIA2 Catalogue. I understand the intended purpose of the Star Atlas Find function is to display the position of stars, minor planets and deep sky objects.
Seeing as how the HIP reference is available - wondering why there is no Find for stars also (unless I missed it)? Sorry if this has been clarified before.
Regards,
Patrick.

Hello, GAIA star names are so long (example: 3510125382014416256) that are usually not included in compressed catalogs. Actually it's shorter to use coordinates as a reminder, eg. 231559.3+225612. In Astroart I suggest to use a Bookmark (right click in the atlas).
The 300 most brighter stars can be searched by name (example: vega , altair). HIP stars will be searchable in SP2.
Clear skies,
Fabio.

Fabio,
Thanks. It was searching by the HIP number I was looking for.
