Telescope Control for Guider

Post by VAastro » 08 Mar 2020, 23:25

Hi,

I have a Atik GP attached to a f/3.75 80 mm dia guide scope.
What should I use in the Telescope setup for the Guide? It was set to "Same connection as GOTO"

My main CCD camera is on a f/5.3 RC 10 inch

When I calibrate the guider it moves the guide star out of FOV.

Thanks

Hi,
in the Telescope Window, is the "Goto" Setup set as ASCOM ?

If yes, what is the guide speed in the mount ?
Usually 0.5 X sideral (or between 0.2 - 0.7) is optimal.

To verify the guide speed you could also make this test: take a short exposure, make a pulse of one second with the buttons or with the handset, then take another exposure. The shift between the images should be in the range 2 .. 10 pixels.

Thanks for your response Fabio

I set the AP GOTO Keypad and AP ASCOM V2 driver pulse to 0.25X and 0.5X sideral but the guide star left the guide screen during guide calibration.
I will try your test next clear night.

Telescope control was set to ASCOM
